"What??" I hear you say across the vast interwebs. "He cooks AND bakes?? Surely not! No one man has that much skill!"
It's true, dear friends. In fact, my love of baking and cooking started a long time ago.... *cue flashback graphics and music*
When I was little - and I'm talking like 3 or 4 here - I learned how to bake my first thing. Chocolate Chip Cookies. Before boiling freaking water for top ramen, I was mixing cookie dough (I promise most of it made it in to the oven...ok some of it...).
I loved the classic recipe that my mom cut off the bag of chocolate chips and taped to an index card, but after a while, I wanted to get adventurous...
It started off small. "Let's see what happens when I add honey to the dough. Surely something brilliant!!"
Yeah...nothing. Made them a bit sweeter. So I branched out. Cinnamon (tasty!), chocolate syrup (chocolatey cookies), chocolate powder (same as before), mixed chips, etc.
Oddly enough doing this scared me (I was an odd child). I didn't want my mom to find out what I was doing.... thought I was going to get in trouble.
One day I took it too far....strawberry syrup. The cookies that came out of the oven were a lovely shade of bright pink. My mom took one look at them, looked at me, asked "Did you put strawberry syrup in these?"
"...yeees?" I replied, scared I was going to get a lecture.
"Nice. I like the color."
WIN!
After that I started experimenting more. Finding recipes and tasting things and now here I am 20-some odd years later with a food blog. I think I've done rather well!

Aaaaaaaaannyhoo, on to today.
I'd seen this around the internet for a while: Ice Cream Bread.
The concept intrigued me. So one trip to the supermarket, a bag of self-rising flour, and a pint of vanilla bean ice cream later:
